KS3 Musician of the year 2009
On Wednesday 3rd June, the Musician of the Year Competition and Concert took place involving nearly 80 Imberhorne students. The evening was a great success; the standard of performing was the highest it has ever been and there was a huge, very supportive audience made up of family, friends and staff. In the first half, the Samba Band opened the concert, which was followed by the Year 8 Cappella Group and all the students performing in the competition. After a short interval the second half progressed. This included the orchestra, the choir, and a flute and piano duet played by A. Booer and S. Hargreaves. The Woodwind Quartet, which included L. Townsend (who played with a broken finger!), S. Quickfall, L. Nicoll and L. Plummer, performed a piece by Mozart. H. Jenkins and E. Warboys performed a Mazas violin duet. Before the results were announced, last year’s winners, L. Townsend and A. Constable, also performed. The judges of competition were Miss Barwell, Mr Keating and Mr Walsh. They faced a really difficult decision! Congratulations to the overall winners: E. Strachan who won the grades 0-3 category, G. Thomas who won the grades 3-5 category and L. Nicoll who won the grades 5-8 category. The following students also received awards: A. Calvey, S. Quickfall, S. Kariolis, P. Deshmuk-Reeves, C. Duncanson, I. Bezer and M. Oulton.
