Un-bee-lievable Success
During the October half term break we submitted our Imberhoney to the world-renowned British National Honey Show and are absolutely thrilled to have won a prestigious award! Our honey was meticulously inspected by the highly experienced judges and came top in the category for which we have been rewarded with a prize donated by the country’s leading bee equipment suppliers.
The 86th National Honey Show took place at Sandown Park near Esher between 26th to 28th October and attracted nearly two thousand entries this year – not all in our category luckily!
This award was a real surprise as it's our first experience of entering this type of competition. Next year we hope to enter more classes which have specifically been designed for entries by schools all over the UK.
Our wonderful Imberbees, introduced at Imberhorne in 2016, managed to produce over 40 pounds of honey this year. The proceeds from sales around school have been ploughed back into our school bee project to help the continued survival of these precious creatures. We have purchased a new type of hive which will hopefully house a second colony in 2018!
Congratulations to our head beekeeper and Science teacher, Mr Moore and every staff and student member who has been involved with the Imberbees. We are so proud of this achievement.
