Tanzanians Visit Imberhorne - Week One 12th March - 19th March
We welcomed our friends from Tanzania this week for the return leg of the Tanznian Exchange with our link school in Minaki. On Friday 15th we were pleased to welcome East Grinstead MP Nicholas Soames to the school to meet with the students. Mr Soames spent nearly an hour with us talking about his role as an MP and answering questions put to him by the Minaki students. He was extremely positive and supportive of the Imberhorne – Minaki link, seeing it as a valuable opportunity to foster greater understanding between our two countries.Later on that night, the fund raising quiz took place at Upper School. Thank you to everyone who supported the evening which was a huge success, with over £600 raised for the link programme. It was a wet and windy evening but 11 teams braved the elements to pit their wits against one another answering questions on topics as diverse as History & Politics, Science & Engineering, Sport, and Mr Ford’s personal favourite, the TV round! The atmosphere was competitive but good natured and enlivened by an acoustic performance of MGMT’s Kids by Y12 students Ellie Warboys & Sally Cutter and then an African dance routine peformed by the Minaki Boys! Well done to the winning team ‘Quiz Team Tarantino’The Tanzanian students have also spent time in and around the school with our stduents from all year groups both in lessons and in social times, and will continue to do this throughout their stay.
