Our Year 11 prom is an annual favourite in the diary. An event to celebrate the end of Key Stage 4, every student who successfully completes our graduation scheme gets an automatic pass to attend. This year was particularly exciting with so many students graduating. The students voted to hold this year’s prom at the Brighton and Hove AMEX Stadium, in Brighton. Students arrived in school before heading down to the superb venue and this is always a great opportunity for parents and family members, other students and the local community to celebrate the start of the evening with us – luckily the rain held off!  What a year of fantastic vehicles it was too - in addition to the usual limousines and fancy cars, we also had a couple of army vehicles, a monster truck and two beautiful horse and carriages.  The students looked absolutely amazing – it was hard to recognise some of them, looking so grown up after being in uniform for five years!

After saying goodbye to the crowd we boarded the buses and headed for Brighton.  We were really lucky to be able to have our photo taken on the stands of the stadium – a great memory of the evening.  Once the formalities were out of the way, food was served, followed by the girls discarding their shoes to prepare for a night of dancing!  We have never had a prom before where every single student was up on the dance floor. It was like a mini festival at times – just a great atmosphere.  The highlight had to be the boys v girls Grease mega-mix!

The staff at the venue commented on what an amazing bunch of students they were. They were an absolute credit to the school, themselves and their parents. Mr Langstone, Head of Year 11 added "I could not have wished for a better end to their time at Key Stage 4 and, ultimately, their secondary education.  I could not have felt prouder to be their Head of Year than I did on Wednesday 28th June.  I wish them all the very best of luck with whatever they go on to do in the next couple of years.  My new Year 7 year group have a lot to live up to and I hope that at some stage some of the Year 11s have a chance to come and work with us and pass on their amazingness!"
