A group of our most passionate musicians were treated to an unforgettable piano master class with Richard Meyrick on 2nd February. Working mainly from his studio in London, Richard is a leading piano teacher and internationally acclaimed virtuoso pianist giving more than 80 concerts each year. With his direct and humorous approach, the students were completely engaged and keen to impress and learn from the outstanding musician.  Many of our student pianists volunteered to perform pieces and then listened as Richard critiqued their work and offered guidance as to how they could improve their technique.

James Anderson in Year 9 commented “The experience was influential and Richard gave everyone a lot of help to become a better pianist. He was funny but at the same time taught us how to look professional when performing and how to make your ‘beat come alive’. It was a great experience and I would recommend this to anyone who plays the piano”.

The workshop was fast paced, stimulating and insightful. Our students all agreed the master class was a wonderful opportunity.  Richard had many anecdotes to share with the class and his pearls of wisdom will stay with our students for years to come .
