German visitors to Imberhorne 2009
Our German partner school in Dortmund visited us for a week early in the term and had a very enjoyable week. The younger students (the same age as our Year 7 students) stayed in a Youth Hostel, while there were 13 older students staying with host families, including four work experience girls who spent the week at Fledglings and Windmill Nurseries. Unfortunately we were unable to run our annual visit to Dortmund this year, so instead of going out with a family on the Saturday as they have in the past, we took the group to nearby Heaven Farm, Crawley shopping and the Jubilee Centre. On Sunday the whole group had a great day in London and during the week, which saw lovely weather, they went out to Portsmouth and Brighton. On Wednesday there was a party for the visitors with Imberhorne partners and on the Thursday we welcomed them to school where they took part in a variety of activities with a partner. After this they went to East Court and were greeted by the Mayor and viewed the stone marking the Meridian Line. From there they went to East Grinstead Fire Station which is always one of the highlights, as they use the hoses and often end up in a huge water fight. It’s always a pleasure for us to greet old friends and we really hope we can reciprocate the visit next year. Many thanks to those families who kindly hosted one or more German visitor; I know all the guests had a fantastic time and hope to see their partners again in the future.Mr R Keyte
