Drama Club Presents - 18th March 2015
KS3 Drama Club put on its first show for parents and friends on the evening of Wednesday the 18th of March. The show was called Drama Club Presents.... and took place in the Windmill Lane Drama Studio.The students were excited to have a real audience and presented a vibrant sample of their recent work. The show included devised drama created by the students in small groups inspired by different themes such as imaginary friends, bullying, a school trip, a murder mystery and a haunted toy shop. One piece of drama was a spoof Macbeth and featured the Wispa-eating witches of East Grinstead. As well as small group work the students also demonstrated their big group ensemble skills by performing whole group focus exercises, warm up games and choreographed movement. Jess Barnes, a year 9 student performed a comic monologue from the play ‘Girls Like That’, about how a female pilot in 1945 dealt with a male pilot who thought he wasn't going to take orders from a woman. The audience seemed to enjoy every bit of the show and many parents commented on the fantastic confidence of the students.Congratulations Drama Club on a really creative, entertaining and fun-filled event. Drama Club will next be performaning at Summer Stage in June. Better start rehearsing!
