Day of Discovery at Herstmonceux
Year 7's had a wonderful day at Herstmonceux Science Centre. The students were brilliant, representing the school very well. They were polite and knowledgeable, really impressing the staff at the science centre with their enthusiasm and knowledge and they were very competitive during the team challenges! The trip is an adventure for our youngest and most passionate Science Club students and has become a popoluar annual event in the school diary. Tegan Butcher in 7BBE gave a glowing report on her day:
"On the 28th March, some lucky students (including me!) were picked to take a trip to Herstmonceux Castle for an awesome science trip! Out of all of the vastly unique sections of the castle, my favourite part had to be awarded to the ‘Vacuum chair’. To work this different invention, I sat on a glass seat and held two buttons. Others watched as the power of science blew their minds. When I pushed the buttons that were either side of me, a Henry Hoover sucked the chair off the ground! The whole trip was fun and I certainly learnt a lot, such as, they have one of the best telescopes in the world. Transported from London as they were unable to be used in that area, there were two types of telescope: the refracting and the reflecting. All the students were great sports and we enjoyed the trip very much. Thank you Herstmonceux."
