Last Wednesday was a big night for school Rugby in East Grinstead with both secondary schools going head to head in the U14 Cooney Cup and U16 Newnham Shield.

The U16s won the Barry Newnham Shield 14 : 12 to reclaim the trophy from Sackville who won last year. It was a really tense and close fought match. Well done to both teams for making the game such a spectacle. After 9 years of this annual match, the scoreline stands at Imberhorne 6 and Sackville 3. The Year 9s lost the Chris Cooney Cup match 31 : 10 but put in a really spirited performance against a stronger Sackville side on the night.

Mr Byrne, Leader of Imberhorne P.E was rightly proud of all the boys and rushed straight back to school to get the shield, at least, back in place for the year!
