BBC Studio Tour - 27th March 2013
At 8am on 27th March, 15 of our Year 9 students who had taken part in the BBC School News Reports (see website home page) set off for London. Taking the train to Oxford Circus to arrive for 10.30am we took part in a tour of the BBC's new London Studio. The tour started with some time in the cafe area, home to ‘Doctor Who’ memorabilia and a great viewing platform for the main BBC news room seen on TV. We also saw the weather report being filmed in an area behind a glass screen next to the cafe area.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> We were lucky enough to be shown around both the old BBC building and the new taking part in recording radio dramas, presenting the weather (in front of a green screen) and news broadcasts. The day was a memorable one for the students as recognisable news readers could be seen at their desks and on the way to and from filming. The interactive nature of the tour made it an enjoyable experience for all.
