Assembly Intentions

Mr Conroy, Deputy Head, has been presenting assemblies to all year groups on our NHS. Starting with the formation of the NHS in 1948, the principles behind the formation of the NHS and why it was such a revolutionary concept. He then moved on to some of the recent issues the NHS has encountered in terms of funding.

This was a good foundation to introduce to students the reasons for our participating in the Christmas Jumper Day this year on Friday 13th December, raising money for the 'National Elf Service' and more specifically the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead.

The money will help to upgrade the outdoor play area on the children’s ward, which needs resurfacing, to provide a new awning to allow patients and their families to go out even when it is hot and sunny, as well as new outdoor toys as the current ones are extremely worn. The hospital treats children who have experienced burns or need reconstructive surgery, including specialist hand, jaw and eye surgery, as well as treating a number of other injuries and illnesses.
