Art students visit Tate Britain
The annual Art Trip to London’s Tate Britain and Modern was once again a huge success. Thirty eight students from Year 12 and 13, A-level Art and Applied Art and Design spent two hours in the Tate Britain researching artists now heavily influencing their coursework back in school. The Frances Bacon exhibition was both impressive and shocking; it was fantastic for the students to experience such a long awaited show of one of the world’s great painters. The trip is not only an excellent opportunity for the students and staff to gain first hand experience of historical and contemporary art, but also a chance to soak in the culture and energy of the South Bank between the two Tate Galleries. The students produced some very impressive practical work in both galleries and it is always great to see the two year groups gaining inspiration from each other. This visit is an imperative part of the A-Level courses and all students made the most of the opportunity. Their behavior throughout the entire day was a credit to themselves and the school.Ms G Kirwan-Taylor
